There is something special about a Jesus painting with the word ‘Coke’ written across it. Hype of Type (a small business curated by designer Kelly Lee) created space for the finely crafted to the finely crude art she is known for. Established in 2016, Lee had an affinity for lettering and repurposing found and second hand items to create her sinfully expressive pieces. With a growing fan base and a list of interested buyers in tow Hype of Type was born. A small female run business that focuses on hand lettered repurposed art that sparks creativity and more importantly, discussions that lead to connection. Since then, with many conventions and shows under her belt, the business has continued to grow and expand on its cleverly crude pieces. Hype of Type joined Full Deck Print & Design in the Spring of 2020, located just out side of St. Louis. With the new bond, Lee has been able to bring out more illustrated pieces to the businesses, including but not limited to pinups, motorcycles, and hot rods with the added spice of her witty words. Renegade Clothing Co. knew who to call in order to bring their wild ideas to fruition. Who wouldn’t want an pin up chick, straddling a carburetor that says “Choke Me”?
